Folk news 24th-30th Oct

Official Poppy Appeal song for the 100th anniversary is Joss Stone and Jeff Beck playing Eric Bogle's '"No Man's Land" - about time we had a folk song in the charts again!  Sarah McQuaid has a new album out in Feb '15 - Folk For All hopes to preview it pre-release in a future prog.  Sarah is touring the UK in November, but not near us, I'm afraid.  This week, we'll have to be content with Dave Burland, Dick Gaughan, Chris Newman & Maire ni Chathashaigh, Jon Heslop, Croab Ruah - plus local heros Jeff Henry and 'Phil & Jane' -enough to be going on with, I'd say!

Folk News 17th-23rd October 2014

Folk For All this week (16th) will pay tribute to Ray Hedges by playing excerpts from his live session for Folk For All in 2009.  Kind, generous, and a perfect gentleman - and a joy to listen to, whether for his serious songs, or the occasional slightly naughty ones that Mary always told him off for playing.
